"Halmoni" (할머니) is Korean for grandma. Some members of my extended family may not be fluent in Korean but this is the one word you can count on us to know. She was very shy when I asked her to be in front of the camera and asked me why I would want to take photos of an "old, wrinkly person". It's easy for us to take countless photos of ourselves - be it selfies or group shots. We're always reaching for our phones to take random photos of those around us. However, we seem to rely on family gatherings as a reason to take photos of/with older relatives. If this wasn't so, would she still ask the same question? There's only one way to find out.
